I sang with Derek in chorus, and played with him in the band. I remember him writing music in our school library, and passing him in our long hallways and classrooms. I didn't know him and his talented family long. I understood they traveled a great deal, and I never really knew just why they came to our little town. But probably not unlike most places they spent time - they all made an unforgettable impact. This May, we'll be celebrating our 20 year class reunion. You and your family have been such a great blessing in my life. As you know I named by first daughter after your dad - Samantha Grace. I have told many stories about your dad in the Marshall Islands! As I read through your blog I am overwhelmed at the love and compassion you and Derek have for God's precious children. You are an inspiration and your rewards will be great! I know God has so much for you still. As shallow as it sounds, I am really sorry for this time of loss in your life. May God keep you and bless you beyond all comprehension!
