    Dear Renee,
I’m a missionary in Kiev, Ukraine, my husband is Ukrainian and we are just starting up training teams of teenagers and worship teams for a house of prayer in Kiev. My dream is to do what you are doing! We don’t understand why this happened, but God must be up to something HUGE. I believe Derek’s life will be a seed that will produce an enormous harvest of God’s heart for adoption in America and around the world as his story goes out.
His and your dream of the “lonely being put into families” will come to pass and I believe Derek will be able to see it and rejoice! We pray for the Lord to STRONGLY uphold you and your family during this difficult time, and that you will see His goodness to you in tremendous ways. Our heart grieves with you.

I just learned about your family, and have read your entire blog over the last few days. I am so sorry for your great loss.
I wanted to let you know that your story has inspired my husband and I to begin talking and praying about adopting another child. Thank you for your story.

It’s been nearly 18 years since Derek and I attended the School of Music Ministries International together in Lindale, TX. And all of us who knew him then knew that he was a special man of God with a tremendous destiny and call on his life. He has far superceded what I, in my earthly mind, foresaw that to be. His character and heart for God and God’s children have largely trumped his talents. And as talented as he was (and is, now in Heaven) that is no small feat!
