Renee,
I am a foster mom, KC area, Kansas side. I have friends at IHOP and so was aware of the death of your precious husband...I am so sorry. The reason I'm writing is that we seem to be very close to losing "our" baby girl, who we've been fostering since she was 2 days old. She is now almost 17 months. Our prayer has been to be able to adopt her, but it looks like she will be leaving us soon, going into a situation that makes me almost sick to my stomach... Anyway, I just had to say that as I sit here with the Lord in the midst of my own grief, your honesty in your blog gives me courage to be honest with our own friends and family who read my blog. It's so hard to me to be so broken and so weak and to let everyone I know see me this way. But it's reality. I'm thankful for your heart. Thank you for being so real. Grace to you guys as you continue to walk through all that you are. Thank you for being faithful to Jesus.

Renee and family, I had a dream on April 2, 2010 concerning Derek. I have never met you/your family nor had I ever heard Derek speak but in this dream it was a conference (kids were sitting in front of him everywhere) and he was speaking. He asked if anyone wanted the coat he was wearing as a mantle and I jumped up and put it on. He was so excited about what he was sharing, I remember he just kept smiling and laughing, his face was full of the Father's Presence.. I felt compelled to write you this; I am aware this dream is about my heart and the desire to adopt and have a ministry with children but I believe it is indeed two-fold. I pray the Father tucks you into the Cleft of the Rock today. Emily

Dear Renee and family, I am so sad to read about
Derek. I had no idea. I am so sorry. It's 2 am here in Texas. I'm sitting in my husbands room at Hospice. He has been undergoing treatment for the past year for stage IV lung cancer. W have been here two days now. I couldn't sleep and have been reading and studying lately your Daddy's message on The Potter's Touch. I placed the title in the browser and your family blog site caught my eye. I couldn't believe what I was reading. I can't find the words to say. Dear Renee, I am so sorry.
I found you through Jess. I had to stop and read and share our story. As it is very similar. My husband Matthew has Cerebral Palsy. about 4 1/2 years ago he went into a w/c full time. State covered, God is good, no prob. Then he needed a power chair. We about fell over at the $25,000 cost as well. Our insurance covered NONE of it, and we had already remortgaged our house to buy a w/c conversion van so my hub could have independence.

ANYWAY, long story short, we were blessed by an amazing organization that could only have come through the Hand of God! Not only did my hub get a power chair, it has all the best things he needs, and is worth a whopping $35,000!!!! And we didn't pay a cent! GOD IS GOOD! So hold out my sister in Christ, as I know our God is bigger then any amount of ZEROS that can be thrown at us!! I wanted to share the video I made of this miraculous gift from God!!! Funny you mentioned Nascar. :) And can I just say, now with his power chair, it was the first time in 4 years I'd been able to walk beside my husband, and hold his hand...

In Christ,

Talley Mac

Hi Renee -

Glad to hear Sasha is doing better and doing so well in his new wheels. He looks so cool as a driver!

Thanks for being in touch while we were in RMI. It was so great to hear from you on email and meant so much to have the comments on our blog too. It made us feel connected back to the states. As happy as we are to be back home as a family, it is crazy how much I miss RMI. Lonely for the culture, people...all of it. I just fell in love with being there. And can't wait to go back. Especially when Esme is older.

The photos of your family are amazing. It's almost ridiculous how beautiful you all are! :)

Stay in touch.

Hi Loux Family,

Your posts are so entertaining! My name is Erin, and I am a college student with mild cerebral palsy. I’m a special education major and have hopes of becoming a disability services director of a university after graduate school. I have just launched a blog that is still getting started, but with the title “Empowering People and Changing Lives,” I hope that it will provide a wealth of resources for people who care for children, specifically those who are affected by disability. I will also be chronicling some personal experiences and will be sharing some thoughts about those along the way. Your blog has also been included in my blogroll, so I hope that together, we are able to collaborate to provide resources to those who are in similar situations. The blog’s address is http://empowerpeoplechangelives.blogspot.com. From there, you will be able to read the posts I have written, find out all about me, check out my blogroll, eventually look at many resources I have gathered, and contact me.

Look forward to reading many more of your posts! Happy blogging!
